Renewed software but it still reads “Not Protected”

To fix the problem, first please remove your old anti-virus that reads as "Not Protected", then download the program you purchased either from the order confirmation email or from your McafeeProtection.com
account.

Windows XP /Windows 2000 uninstall instructions:

  • Click Start at the left bottom of your screen to open your Start menu
  • Click Control Panel (If you do not see Control Panel, click on Settings first and then on Control Panel)
  • Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  • Click to highlight the program you need to uninstall in the list of software
  • Click Add/Remove button and follow the prompts to remove the program
  • Restart your computer

 

Windows VISTA/ Windows 7 uninstall instructions:

  • Click on the Start button at the left bottom of your screen. The Start button has a Windows logo on it
  • When the Start Menu opens click on Computer
  •  Click on the Uninstall or Change a Program button at the top of the window
  • Click to highlight the program you need to uninstall in the list of software
  • Click Uninstall button at the top of the window and follow the prompts to remove the program
  • Restart your computer


Windows 8 uninstall instructions:

  • Press the Windows key on your keyboard to see the Windows 8 Start view
  • While on the Start view, begin typing ‘Control Panel’ and the Search results will appear
  • Select ‘Control Panel’ on the left
  • Within the Control Panel window, click on ‘Uninstall a program’ under ‘Programs
  • In the list of all applications, find the program you are uninstalling and double-click it to start the uninstallation process
  • Restart your computer
